Which author would you love to have dinner with?
If I could have dinner with any author, it would be Stephen King. No hesitation.
I’d love to pick his brain and find out how he takes an ordinary person, an ordinary town, or even an ordinary object and turns it into something we can’t stop thinking about. Where do all those wonderfully dark ideas come from? Does he ever scare himself while writing? And how does he know when an idea is strange enough to become a story?
I’d also want to talk to him about the writing life itself. He’s written so many unforgettable books, yet his characters always feel real and deeply human. Beneath all the horror, there’s grief, love, friendship, fear, and the complicated ways people survive terrible things. That’s what makes his work so powerful.
Of course, I’d probably arrive with a hundred intelligent questions, forget every single one of them, and spend the first ten minutes trying not to stare across the table thinking, “Holy crap, I’m having dinner with Stephen King.”
Hopefully, he’d forgive me.
With love
