What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?
I was newly separated, feeling a little lost, and decided I needed to do something that would make me feel strong and independent again.
So naturally, I did what any calm, rational person would do.
I hopped on my computer and booked a trip to Cuba… FOR THE NEXT DAY. 😂
Who does that?!
There was just one tiny problem. I had never travelled completely alone before, and I suffer from a very serious condition I like to call directional dysfunction. I can get lost going somewhere I’ve already been twelve times.
So there I was, heading off on my big independent adventure, nervous as heck but determined to prove to myself that I could do this.
And then I got lost in Toronto trying to get to the airport.
Of course I did. 😂
Somehow, I found my way, made the flight, landed in Cuba and spent an entire week on my own.
And you know what?
I had an absolute blast.
I met so many people, made new friends, laughed, explored, and discovered something about myself that I really needed to know at that point in my life:
I could do things alone.
I could figure things out.
And apparently, I could even eventually find an airport. 😂
That impulsive click on “Book” turned into one of the best things I could’ve done for myself.
Since then, travelling alone doesn’t scare me at all.
Getting from Point A to Point B, however?
Still questionable. 😂✈️🌴
