The First Video Game I Ever Played

By

What was your first ever videogame?

Well, this question is really going to show my age! 😂

My first video game was Pong! Yes, PONG! And for those of you too young to remember, prepare to be amazed by the incredible technology we had back then. 🤣

I can’t remember if ours was an Atari or one of those early home gaming systems, but the game was basically two little paddles and a square ball bouncing back and forth across the television screen. You turned a knob to move your paddle up or down, hoping to hit the ball before it sailed past you.

That was it. That was the ENTIRE game! 😂

No fancy graphics, no realistic characters, no elaborate storylines. Just a little white square bouncing around the screen, and we thought it was the greatest invention since sliced bread!

And believe me, having one of those games in your house was a BIG deal. Every kid wanted one, and if you had one, suddenly your house was the place to be.

Fast-forward a few decades, and look at me now! I’m playing MLB baseball, It Takes Two, and yes, even Jeopardy! Apparently, I’ve gone from chasing a little white square around a screen to testing my knowledge against imaginary contestants. 🤣

The graphics have certainly improved, although I’m not entirely convinced my gaming skills have kept up!

Funny how something so ridiculously simple could bring us so much excitement. We didn’t need much to be entertained back then, did we?

Now I’m curious. Who else remembers Pong, or am I the only dinosaur in the room? 😂🦖

With love
