What’s a moment when a stranger completely restored your faith in people?
A few years ago, I was going through a day of medical testing and had to eat between appointments. I went downstairs to the food court and stopped at a Persian restaurant, where I asked for a small shawarma wrap. The man told me he only had the large ones, and since that was too much for me, I politely declined.
Then he said, “I’ll make you half.”
I guess he noticed all the tubes sticking out of my arms because when I tried to pay, he wouldn’t take my money. I was so stunned by his kindness that I cried. He probably thought he was simply giving someone half a shawarma, but in that moment, he gave me something much bigger. He restored my faith in humanity.
