What are five simple exercises to do at home?
I’m going to be upfront. I’m not the person who leaps out of bed at 6 a.m., throws on matching workout clothes, and announces, “I can’t wait to exercise!”

I’m more of a does walking to the fridge count? kind of girl.
But apparently moving our bodies is important, so here are five simple exercises you can actually do at home without turning your living room into a CrossFit gym.
- Chair squats
Stand in front of a sturdy chair, sit down, stand back up, and repeat. Basically, you’re sitting down badly on purpose. Start with 5–10. - Wall push-ups
Put your hands against the wall, step back a little, and do push-ups against it. Much friendlier than getting on the floor, where there’s always the possibility I may simply decide to live there. - Marching in place
Put on a favourite song and march around for a few minutes. Bonus points if you add dramatic arm movements and pretend you’re leading a parade. - Heel raises
Hold onto the back of a chair, rise onto your toes, lower yourself, and repeat. Easy enough to do while waiting for the coffee to brew, which is the kind of multitasking I support. - Kitchen-counter leg lifts
Hold onto the counter and slowly lift one leg out to the side, lower it, then switch legs. The counter is there for balance and, conveniently, also leads directly to snacks.
You don’t need an hour-long workout or fancy equipment. A few minutes of movement here and there still counts.
And if I do all five?
I’m absolutely telling everyone I worked out today. 😂💪
