Sometimes you Just Have to Go

By

What’s something you’ve done that you never thought you could?

One of the bravest things I’ve ever done was book my first solo trip to another continent.

Was I excited? Absolutely. Was I terrified? You bet I was!

There I was, preparing to travel halfway around the world, completely on my own. No familiar faces, no one to lean on, and nobody to blame if things went sideways. Just me, my suitcase, and a whole lot of nervous energy.

Of course, my imagination wasn’t helping. We’ve all heard those stories about people travelling alone and finding themselves in terrible situations. Granted, half of what I was imagining probably came from watching too many movies, but try telling that to a nervous woman about to board an international flight!

The truth is, I was at a point in my life when I desperately needed something to change. I’d become so caught up in the life I was living that somewhere along the way, I’d forgotten what it felt like to really live.

I needed to wake up. To experience something different. To remind myself that there was an entire world out there beyond the one I’d grown accustomed to.

And then a little voice in my head said, “Why not?”

For once, I listened.

That trip wasn’t just about seeing another part of the world. It was about discovering that I was capable of doing something that frightened me. I didn’t need someone holding my hand or reassuring me that everything would be fine. I could be scared and still go.

Looking back, I’m proud of the woman who packed that suitcase. She had no idea what awaited her, but she went anyway.

Sometimes the biggest adventure isn’t the destination. It’s finding the courage to leave the life you know, even if only for a little while, and discovering a part of yourself you didn’t know existed.

And to think, it all started with two little words.

Why not?

With love
