The best way to explore a new city?

Start with a carefully researched itinerary.

Then completely ignore it.

Take one wrong turn, find a little restaurant you never would’ve noticed otherwise, buy something you absolutely did not need, and ask a local for directions even though Google Maps is literally in your hand.

By lunchtime, you should have no idea where you are.

By supper, you should be saying, “We would NEVER have found this place if we hadn’t gotten lost!”

And by the end of the trip, you’ll have 347 photos, sore feet, a fridge magnet, and one mildly alarming story that begins with:

“Okay, so we weren’t actually supposed to be in that part of town…”

That’s how you explore a city.
